ROCKWELL INTEGRATED SCIENCES CENTER

Our department is housed in the Rockwell Integrated Sciences Center, which opened in fall, 2019. The Rockwell Center is a state-of-the-art building with LEED Platinum certification, “the highest recognition awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council for sustainable, energy-efficient design and construction”. More information can be found here.

Teaching facilities

There are eight teaching classrooms and 11 teaching laboratories spaces, eight of them assigned to Biology, in RISC. Classrooms can accommodate between 32 and 80 students. Teaching laboratories are designed to accommodate 20 students each.

Research spaces

Each faculty member has a dedicated research space that can accommodate up to eight students. In addition,  there are several shared spaces such as two state-of-the-art greenhouses, a molecular biology suite, a plant growth suite with two state-of-the-art plant growth chambers, among others.

Instrumentation

The Biology department is equipped with modern instrumentation that allows faculty and students to conduct advanced research.  A scanning electron microscope, confocal microscopes, PCR and qPCR machines, cell flow cytometer are only a few of the instruments available in the department.

Manuals for some of the equipment and instrumentation are linked below.
