2025-2026 Biology Department, Visiting Assistant Professor

The Department of Biology at Lafayette College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in Biology for the academic year 2025-2026. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate education to teach several courses, including Biology 111 (the first of our introductory series, focusing on evolution, physiology, and ecology), Biology 231 (Ecology; lecture and lab), plus other courses related to the candidate’s expertise that fit within the department’s curricular needs. Expertise in ecology is required, and all areas within that field will be considered. This is a full-time appointment with a 3/3 teaching load, and there are no research commitments and no dedicated lab space with this position. A Ph.D. in Biology, or related field, is required; however, ABD candidates with a firm completion date by July 2025 will also be considered. We especially welcome applicants who can contribute to Lafayette’s commitment to greater diversity and inclusion.

Candidates should upload a CV and teaching statement to http://apply.interfolio.com/162707. Three letters of recommendation and a sample syllabus will be required from finalists. Review of applications will begin March 3rd, 2025, and can continue until the position is filled. In your cover letter, please address how your teaching might support Lafayette’s commitment to diversity and inclusion articulated in the College’s diversity statement.

Inquiries may be sent to Mike Butler, Chair of the Search Committee, at butlermw@lafayette.edu.
