2025-2026 Biology Department, Assistant Professor

The Department of Biology at Lafayette College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2026. We seek applicants who are broadly trained in ecology, particularly those whose research examines broad levels of biological organization, such as population, community, or ecosystem ecology. Candidates whose research explores diverse fields of disease ecology, ecotoxicology, molecular ecology, computational ecology, or other emerging subdisciplines are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and plans for an active research program that includes undergraduates in their research. Research experience beyond graduate work is preferred. Experience teaching undergraduates is a plus. The department especially welcomes applications from candidates who will contribute to Lafayette’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The candidate will be expected to teach courses in Ecology and be able to contribute to our introductory general biology course sequences, in particular Biology 111: Unity & Diversity in Biology. Candidates will also be expected to teach other courses in their area of expertise. The teaching load is 2/2 in the first year, and 3/2 thereafter. The Department of Biology expects all of its members to maintain active, productive, sustained programs of scholarship that involve undergraduate students. 2025-2026 Biology Department, Visiting Assistant Professor (THIS SEARCH IS CLOSED)

The Department of Biology at Lafayette College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in Biology for the academic year 2025-2026. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate education to teach several courses, including Biology 111 (the first of our introductory series, focusing on evolution, physiology, and ecology), Biology 231 (Ecology; lecture and lab), plus other courses related to the candidate’s expertise that fit within the department’s curricular needs. Expertise in ecology is required, and all areas within that field will be considered. This is a full-time appointment with a 3/3 teaching load, and there are no research commitments and no dedicated lab space associated with this position. A Ph.D. in Biology, or related field, is required; however, ABD candidates with a firm completion date by July 2025 will also be considered.
